3/01/19/1: Moor Road. The member of the public voiced his concerns regarding Moor Road being closed for such a long period of time. The Chairman said that this would be discussed under action items.

5/01/19: PROGRESS REPORT FROM ACTION ITEMS
5/01/19/1: Road markings at Askam station. Cllr Ben Shirley contacted Highways regarding this issue. This work has been added to the list for the next batch of in-house lining by Cumbria Highways for Askam and Ireleth.
5/01/19/2: Footpaths, Ireleth. Works is continuing along the footpaths from Marsh Grange to Saves Lane. Cumbria County Council Countryside Access’ Contractor has fitted some of the new bridges. He has been hampered by the wet weather. This work will continue until all five bridges are renewed.
5/01/19/3: Moor Road. Cllr Shirley affirmed that monies had been allocated under the damage done by Storm Desmond, and that design work was progressing, and a contractor was expected on site in April 2019.
5/01/19/4: Children’s Christmas Story Time, Askam Library. Cllr Steven Smalley reported that the event had been a huge success with some 20 children and their parents and grandparents, as well as members of the parish council attending the story time. It was a joy to see the children taking over the story telling and reading stories to the other children.

5/01/19/5: Community Speed Watch. Cllr Steven Smalley reported that he was in contact with PCSO John McVea with regards to setting up a speed watch team in Askam and Ireleth. Currently the speed gun was away being calibrated, but once it was available Cllr Smalley was hopeful that it would be deployed in the village. A member of the public at the meeting volunteered his services.

5/01/19/6: Sun Street and Hollowgate Road. The Clerk had written to Highways and copied in Cllr Ben Shirley regarding the parish council and resident’s concerns about the poor quality of the road surface on Sun Street and Hollowgate Road. There has been no response.

6/01/19: TO REPORT ON POLICE AND ROAD TRAFFIC MATTERS
Cllr Mike Cumming read out the Crime Figures for December 2018 sent in by PCSO Johns – Antisocial behaviour 1, assault 1 (domestic assault), criminal damage 3 (damage to car roof on Steel Street, damage to gate at Sandscale park and damage to wheelie bin on Lord Street), no burglary, no drugs 1 theft of gift cards from a wedding at The Dunes.

Reference Number: 6/18/9006 Review of Minerals Permission (ROMP) for Goldmire Quarry, Dalton in Furness. No objections or comments raised.
Reference Number : B28/2019/0007, Garth House Saves Lane Ireleth Askam-in-Furness Cumbria LA16 7EQ. Notice of intention to (works to trees within conservation area) Ash Tree (T1 as shown on the plan) Crown reduce the spread away from neighbouring properties, remove 6ft from crown height and prune any deadwood. Walnut Tree (T2 as shown on the plan) Crown lift lower limbs. No objections or comments raised. The parish council are happy to leave the decision to the Planning Officer regarding tree preservation orders. The Clerk was asked to respond.
08/01/19: PARISH PLAN UPDATE
Cllr Wilson reported that the next stage of the plan was to meet with Barrow Borough Council and Cumbria County Council separately to bring forward the updates to the previous plan and to get their input to what could be likely outcomes. Cllr Mike Cumming would set up these meetings and attend with Cllr Wilson.
09/01/19: UPDATE FROM JRC MEETING
Cllr Mike Cumming and Cllr Sandra attending the meeting held in Dalton Town Hall. Cllr Cumming gave a report from this meeting. The National Trust are to take over the lease of the toilets at Sandscale from Barrow Borough Council. It is hoped that once the legal aspects have been dealt with the toilets will be re-opened by the National Trust. The Barrow Borough Local Plan is awaiting approval by the inspectors. It is disappointing that some comments made by the parish council and residents have not been considered within the new Borough Local Plan. This is something Cllr Wilson and Cllr Cumming will discuss when they meet with Barrow Borough Council regarding our parish plan. The meeting was informed that Phil Huck CEO of Barrow Borough Council was retiring mid-March
