4/05/20: ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN, VICE CHAIRMAN AND OFFICERS
It was agreed that because of the Emergency situation the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Officers would continue in their positions for the year 2020/21.
5/05/20: SIGNING AND APPROVAL OF ANNUAL GOVERNANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY
RETURN (AGAR) 2019/20
5/05/20/1: Cllr Mike Cumming reported that the accounts had been returned from Roger Brailsford our internal auditor.
5/05/20/2: The Parish Council reviewed the Accounts and certified itself Exempt From a limited assurance review under section 9 of the Local Audit (Smaller Authorities) Regulations 2015.
5/05/20/3: The Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) part 2 was reviewed and discussed by the Parish Council and the Section 1 Annual Governance Statement 2019/2020 approved.
6/05/20: APPROVAL OF ANNUAL ACCOUNTING STATEMENTS
6/05/20/1: The AGAR part 2 was reviewed and the Section 2 Accounting Statements was also approved.
7/05/20: GP SURGERY IN ASKAM
Purchase of the surgery on Parklands Drive from Dr Jain is ongoing. Duddon Valley Medical Practice have been accepted by the CCG to run a satellite surgery in Askam and Ireleth and will be using the surgery on Parklands Drive. A lot of work and negotiations have been carried out by the ‘Save Our Surgery’ team and the parish council thanked Councillor Ben Shirley, Parish Councillor Mike Cumming and Harry Barker, the Clerk and our MP Simon Fell for their hard work and commitment for our village.
8/05/20: CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY PACKS
Cllr Trevor Hughes said that the activity packs that had been provided by the Parish Council, Drop Zone and BAE had been excellent and he had received very good feed back from those who had received these packs. Cllr Mike Cumming said that in all about 92 packs had been distributed to the community.
9/05/20: BENCHES ON DUDDON ROAD
Cllr Susan Orrell had received complaints regarding the seats on Duddon Road which needed some attention. The Clerk will ask our Parish Lengthsman to put them on his list of works. Action Clerk
Cllr Orrell thanked the Clerk and Cllr Cumming for decorating the memorial garden and the jubilee fountain for VE day.
10/05/20: PAVING AT THE MEMORIAL GARDEN
Cllr Bill Wilson had a received a quotation from Colin Roberts landscapes and this had been accepted by the parish council via email. Cllr Wilson is waiting for a detail drawing from Colin which will be sent to Barrow Borough Council for their agreement.
11/05/20: REPORT FROM CLERK INCLUDING FINANCES
The monthly expenditure spreadsheet was sent to the parish councillors prior to the meeting.. This was reviewed and accepted.

Broxap 2 new litter bins £548.40, Aqua Pro Jet monthly landscaping contract £570.84 x 2 months, Heath’s activity packs for children £399.84, CALC annual subscription £447.23, Broxap fixing kit for litter bins £23.88, Zurich annual public liability insurance £1224.54, Cumbria County Council payment for Saturday library assistant £570.84.
