3/12/22/1: Motor Vehicles on SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), Askam beach. Complaints received from a member of the public regarding pit bikes using the SSSI site on the Lots area of Askam beach. PCSO Ward said that he and his Sergeant had visited the area and witnessed the two bikes in the SSSI area. They had spoken to the boys and their parents explaining that this was an illegal action and the consequences of such an action. The area would be monitored.

5/12/22: PROGRESS REPORTS AND UPDATES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
5/12/22/1: Memorial Wall. Cllr Trevor Hughes gave an update on this and showed some images of different ideas he had. The parish council agreed that Cllr Hughes should obtain some prices for this work and report back to the parish council. The Clerk mentioned that any work within the memorial garden would need to be agreed with Barrow Borough Council. Action Cllr Hughes
5/12/22/2: Community Speed Watch. PCSO Ward was in the process of contacting an Officer from the CRASH team regarding the speed watch signs.

5/12/22/3: Preparation of Budget. Cllr Cumming reported that the new authority would pay for the parish and town council elections, which was a significant saving for the parish council. A discussion took place regarding the provision of a Christmas tree and lights for the village next year. This was usually supplied by Barrow Borough Council, but of course this would not be the case next year when we move into the new authority. Costs had been obtain for the cost of the lights from Optech and the purchase of a Christmas tree. The parish council would put an amount into the budget for this. It was agreed to set the precept at £23,000.00 for the year 2023/24. As yet the parish council have not been asked for their precept. ` Agreed by all councillors
5/12/22/4: Co-Opted Vacancy for Parish Council. The closing date for applications was 9th January 2023. Applicants would then be asked to come along and meet the parish councillors. The Clerk was asked to convey this to the applicants.
5/12/22/5: Steel Street/Sharp Street Park. Cllr Cumming reported that the first phase had been completed, more work would be done in the new year.

5/12/22/6: Parking at Ireleth School and Ireleth Brow. Police Officers had visited both areas and they had removed the cones from Ireleth Brow. PCSO Ward has visited Ireleth School and intends to carry out some road safety and awareness with the children to try to alert people of the dangers around parking at the school.
5/12/22/7: Update from meeting with Developer of proposed Eco-Lodges at Roanhead Farm. Mr Andrew Coutts of ILM Real Estate and 2 colleagues met with the parish council to present their proposals for this development. Cllr Bill Wilson read out a report he had compiled with regards to this meeting. (If any member of the public would like a copy of this, please contact the Clerk). The main concern of the parish council was the infrastructure to support this development, in particular the proposal to construct a service road off the Lots Road, Askam to the development. This is not something the parish council can support without some major works and upgrade to the Lots Road and its’ junction with the A595.
6/12/22: REPORT FROM COMMUNITY POLICE TEAM
PCSO Ward read out the crime figures for November 2022. 2 ASB children knock and run, group of youths playing around Askam station, left the area when police arrived. 14 crimes – 1 public order, 3 domestic, 1 criminal damage, 1 harassment, 1 sexual offence, 1 concern for welfare, 1 violence against person, 2 malicious communications, 1 hate incident, 1 residential burglary, 1 dropped 999 medical episode, police attended all in order. 2 transport/road traffic incidents.
7/12/22: TO REPORT AND DISCUSS PLANNING APPLICATIONS

Proposal : Erection of two, three bedroomed detached bungalows in place of the approved two detached houses. There were no objections to this proposal, it was felt that bungalows would be a welcome addition for the village.

Location : Land at Roanhead Farm Hawthwaite Lane Barrow-in-Furness Cumbria
Proposal : Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017 (As Amended) - Regulation 15: Proposed new lodge resort comprising guest lodges and eco-cabin accommodation (Scoping Opinion). This was discussed in detail and a response would be formulated to send to planning.
8/12/22: UPDATE FROM BOROUGH AND WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCILLOR
Cllr Edwards reported that he was working with the Borough Council regarding the trees in the memorial garden and it was hoped that the ones near Park Avenue would be dealt with before Christmas. The other trees within the garden had been deemed safe and would not be cut back. The area near the Doctors surgery on Alexander Place, which was overgrown, did not belong to Barrow Borough Council and probably belonged to Neil Price Ltd. Cllr Edwards was still asking for a Street Cleaning Operative to visit Askam and Ireleth on a regular basis. He was reported that there was as build up of litter accumulating again on the A590, he had approached the Borough Council to ask when they would be clearing this area.
